Wordless Wednesday + Learning New Tasks

The weekend of July 23 - 25, 2010 was the annual celebration of the descendants of my my maternal great grandparents, Cornelius Pierce and Fannie White Pierce. Yours truly actually did a brief presentation on some unknowns about my great grandfather. As part of my presentation I put together a collage using pictures I had on hand of my ancestors and relatives. This was my first attempt at doing this and it was fairly simple to do using Paint. And today, I finally got around to teaching myself how to add a watermark, which I figured out how to do using PhotoBucket.

And here's the finished product.

I think it turned out rather nice. What do you think?

The pictures used to create this collage are part of the personal collections of L. Hosch Evans, O. Hosch Jones, and the owner of this blog.

  1. Very nice! You have some really nice photographs. One thing I would have done differently - I would have switched the photos on the far right with the ones on the far left because I like to have people looking into the collage instead of out of it. Helps draw the viewers eye into the great photos you have.

  3. Kristin, thanks for the tips. I was just playing around when I did this and didn't necessarily have a plan when putting it together. Next time, I will definitely put more thought into the arrangement.

    Cheryl, thank you.

Renate, had been meaning to learn that watermark thing for awhile but thought it would be really hard to do and thought I needed special software in order to do it.

  4. Kristin, Are you a professional in imaging? I could use more tips such as yours if I were to create a masterpiece like Mavis'.

Mavis, how large was the finished product? It looks Nice!

  6. Lovely - this is exactly what I want to learn how to do. Supposedly I can do stuff like this in iPhoto (my husband says they give classes in this at the Apple store), so we'll see. But I am inspired by your example!

  7. Darlene, I did the finished size as 8 1/2" x 11" but had to resize it so that it would fit into my PowerPoint presentation / slide.

    Lori, thank you.

Greta, I just googled and came across some good sites that gave really good instructions for doing the collage and for doing the watermark.
